Happy new year, everyone! A bit late, I know, but I’ve been busy. I’m feeling excited because my new book for Barrington Stoke is going to print next week, which means it will be out soon. It’s a re-telling of The Princess And The Pea from the prince’s point of view. I also went to see my lovely editor Jane at Simon and Schuster, and we discussed what I will be writing next. Looks like another Pongwiffy book might be in the pipeline. I am more than happy about this – it’s been a long time since I visited her world. If that goes ahead, it will be the eighth title in the series. The first seven are now available in three bind ups – pink, blue and green. I am so pleased when I see them in shops or libraries. It could be that you’ve never heard of Pongwiffy, who is a witch of dirty habits. The first book about her came out in 1985. The last one appeared in the year of the Olympics in London. Maybe your mum or dad read them??
Heathcliff and Jeremy have been given lots of cat treats for Christmas. They were also given a mouse treat dispenser. It’s made of plastic, and rocks, spilling the treats out of little holes. But they are so silly they can’t understand it. I spend ages lying on the floor giving it a push and showing them – but no, they still don’t get it I shall keep trying, though. I wonder if you have a pet as dozy as them?
I’m visiting two schools in Book Week, which is in March. One is in London and one is in Leighton Buzzard. I would have liked to do more, but getting up early in the morning is HARD,
Have a good January. I hope yove got some good books to read.
